Assistant Professor, BUFT
Sharif Mohammad Shahidullah, PhD is a dedicated academic and English literature professional with extensive experience in tertiary-level teaching, research, and academic engagement. He holds a PhD in English from the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM), an MA in Literature from the University of Dhaka, and a BA (Hons) in English from the University of Dhaka. His academic training and teaching experience have equipped him to teach a diverse range of courses in English language, literature, and literary studies.
Dr. Shahidullah is currently serving as an Assistant Professor in the Department of English at BGMEA University of Fashion and Technology (BUFT), where he teaches a broad range of courses, including Introduction to Poetry, Shakespeare, Romantic Poetry, 16th and 17th Century Drama, 20th Century Drama, Victorian Novels, History of English Literature, Rhetoric and Prosody, Post-colonial Literature, African Literature, English Language I & II, and Business English.
Before joining BUFT, Dr. Shahidullah served as a Lecturer in the Department of English at Bangladesh University of Business and Technology (BUBT) from 2009 to 2012. He subsequently served as an Assistant Professor at King Khalid University, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, from 2012 to 2018. He also worked as an Assistant Professor (Adjunct) at United International University (UIU) from 2024 to 2025.
Dr. Shahidullah is actively engaged in literary research, particularly in the areas of Shakespearean studies, happiness and philosophy, feminism, postcolonial studies, ecocriticism, psychoanalytic criticism, and language studies. His research has appeared in nationally and internationally indexed journals, including a Scopus Q1-indexed journal. His publications include studies on Shakespeare's Twelfth Night, The Taming of the Shrew, The Merchant of Venice, and The Tempest, as well as research on Eliot, Beckett, Hamlet, and the linguistic evolution of English and Bengali in Bangladesh.
With a strong commitment to teaching and research, Dr. Shahidullah seeks to contribute to academic excellence through effective teaching, critical inquiry, and research-informed education. He has also presented his research at an international academic conference at the International Islamic University Malaysia.
