Assistant Professor, BUFT
Md. Raijul Islam is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Textile
Engineering at BGMEA University of Fashion & Technology (BUFT), Dhaka,
Bangladesh. He obtained both his B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Textile Engineering from
BUFT with outstanding academic performance.
His research interests lie at the
intersection of polymer science, sustainable materials, biomass conversion,
biocomposites, nanocomposites, functional coatings, additive manufacturing, and
advanced material characterization. His current research focuses on
developing environmentally sustainable materials from biomass and textile waste
for high-value engineering and industrial applications. He is also interested
in bio-based polymers, functional textiles, and next-generation composite
materials that contribute to the circular economy and sustainable development.
Mr. Islam has authored numerous
peer-reviewed journal articles, book chapters, and conference papers published
by internationally recognized publishers, including Elsevier, Taylor &
Francis, Emerald Publishing, Sage Publications, and IOP Publishing. His
research has contributed to advancements in sustainable polymers, natural dyes,
bioactive materials, textile recycling, and advanced composites.
Alongside his research, he teaches
undergraduate and graduate courses in Polymer Science, Technical Textiles
& Composite Technology, and Chemical Processing of Textiles. He
actively supervises undergraduate and postgraduate research projects, mentoring
students in sustainable materials, polymer engineering, and functional textile
technologies.
His long-term research vision is to
develop advanced biomass-derived functional materials, sustainable carbon
materials, and high-performance polymeric composites for applications in
energy, environmental sustainability, healthcare, and smart materials through
interdisciplinary research and international collaboration.
